Tawna Duncan is an aspiring animator, who enjoys spending her time drawing, goofing off, watching animated movies/TV shows, and talking to her pals.
What more is there to know? I've always been inspired by animation because you get to bring your drawings to life and get to actually watch your characters move and breathe like living beings. Animators are illusionists, scientists, artists, creators, destroyers, everything! We have so much power in our hands and we don't even realize it! We're like visual authors, we can control everything that happens to the character, right down to the slightest twitch of their fingers. We have the power to basically do whatever we want. It's pretty amazing if you think about it.
But the part I love best, is bringing a face to a character that no one has ever seen or met. Creating the characters, giving them a personality, a face, all of it! To be able to watch a character go from a sketch to the silver screen must be the most amazing feeling ever. Someday, I hope to be well acquainted with that feeling.
Why do I want to be an animator? I want to bring people back to earth. A lot of people in the world these days has such a dim outlook on everything - they just can't see the beauty in the world around them or don't know how to appreciate it properly. That's where I come in. I want to bring a smile to the faces of everyone around the world. I want people to smile and laugh with my characters, to cry with happiness and cheer with excitement at their accomplishments. And most importantly, I want to inspire someone else to do the same.
There's nothing I love more than watching a movie and walking out with a feeling that I can change the world. That ultimate feeling of being unstoppable, knowing that the world is in your hands and you are the only one that can do something to change it. Your difference may be small, or it could be huge, but you'll never know what will happen unless you go for it, throw caution to the wind, and do what you were born to do.
So ultimately, my dream is that, by becoming an animator and showing the world how I view life, I will be able to inspire and influence someone for the good.
Until that day, I will work my hardest to be the best animator I can be.
