Lately I've been playing with charcoal pencils, it's pretty fun!
For some reason I have a hard time drawing realistic with pencil, it usually ends up somewhere between semi-realistic and my cartoon-ish style. But I've had an easier time with charcoal.
It feels really natural too, I only have four pencils, HB, B, B3, and white, but they all feel so different, I love it! It's kind of annoying how much you have to sharpen them but there's not much you can do to change that.
I've almost filled 14 pages in my sketchbook in one day. I'm so happy I'm done with that. I had to fill two sketchbooks and a few animations for my animation class. The second one took half the time that the first one did because I took so long filling the first one. Oops. Oh well, I guess it turned out pretty good.
My professor is always telling the class that we have to be good at drawing people, and that seems to be my weakest point, so I'm not sure what that says for me, but the way I see it is there are hundreds of animals and all of them have different looking anatomy, so I'd rather master being able to draw 400 animals than just be able to draw humans.
Or maybe I'll just include humans in those 400? I dunno, what's so great about being able to draw people anyways?
