Drawing : Lineless

Thought I'd share some art.  I have always wanted to play with the lineless style, so I finally got over my fear and played with it.

Daring Do

Lately I have been practicing a lineless style or a more painterly style of making art on Photoshop. It has been a little bit of a challenge, because of my comfort zone of coloring in the lines, but I have really loved doing these.

This first drawing is of a character from the TV show My Little Pony : Friendship is Magic named Daring Do. She is not one of the main characters, but I absolutely loved her character design so I decided I would have a go at drawing her.

I started out with a basic sketch, filled in the colors behind the sketch, and then added the details on top.

It's a little rough, but I really like how it turned out.

I also tried creating a background with lineless.  This was actually really fun.  I usually shy away from drawing backgrounds but I think I finally got over my fear.

I used the same technique that I did with Daring Do, just drew a forest scene obviously.  I found a quote that said something to the effect of "backgrounds are just another character in the scene" and I think that really helped me a lot.

Actually, backgrounds are kind of fun.
