School : Lessons from the Masters

So today I had the opportunity to go to a story writing workshop that was taught by Orsen Scott Card. And let me tell you, it was quite the opportunity.

I will preface this entry by saying that I have nothing against anyone, and I am simply telling you the events of my wonderful day by how I felt.
Orsen Scott Card is the author of Enders Game, and several other books.  He is apparently very famous in his own regard.

To be honest, I have never met another man with such a smooth and relaxing voice in my life.  He took his job seriously and talked to us in a very straight forward way that involved no word mincing.

After three hours of listening to him talking, I was almost asleep.

I can only sit still and listen to someone talk for so long.  But when someone has a voice as relaxing as Card, I start to space off.

I'll spare you the sob story of most of the rest of it.  Basically it boils down to listening to a smooth, relaxing voice for ten hours made me a little antsy.

Orsen Scott Card is a great guy and he was really funny.  But I have never heard someone talk about themselves for so long before.  It would have been funny if I hadn't been squirming in my seat to get out of the place.
