So, seeing Dreamwork's Rise of the Guardians, may have been the best thing that's happened to me in a while.
I love movies that give you a feeling of empowerment. Movies that make you feel like no matter what anyone says, you can make a difference and change the world. That's exactly the feeling I got from watching ROTG. And it inspired me to push my limits.

After a few minutes of sorting through fan art of the main character Jack Frost, I finally found a few screenshots from the movie and picked this one. It's from the scene when North (or Santa Claus) is asking Jack what his center is. I don't really know why I picked it, but there it is.
So after playing around with photoshop brushes and dubbing the eye dropper tool my best friend, I came up with this;
It's just a simple pastel-ish, looking picture. This thing is completely on one layer. Yes, I'm aware that his head is lopsided and his eyebrows resemble large fluffy caterpillars (Sorry Jack!) but this was mainly the starting attempt.
With some more tweeking, several hours or editing, and proclaiming the Liquify effect my side-kick, I came up with this;
It's not the best Jack Frost fan art, but you can tell who it is. I've had a few people tell me that they thought it was just a screenshot pic from the movie, but I know there's too many mistakes in it for that. However, considering my level of expertise in digital painting this way, I'd say it didn't turn out half bad. I actually really liked how the frost on his jacket turned out. I've seen a lot of people try a lot of different techniques with drawing the frost, but I actually think mine might be one of the closest ones.
His hair was way fun to color too. I have a ton of friends - that are 100x better at this than me - and they always make fun of my technique of drawing hair, but I dunno, I kinda like my style. It's got it's share of issues, like any other technique, but I'm not done exploring it's abilities yet.
This was super fun to draw, I might have to do a few more in this style. I'm considering Prince Naveen from Disney's the Princess and the Frog or Eugene Fitz Herbert from Disney's Tangled, but it's all a toss up of when I'll have time until this summer. But hopefully I'll have an internship for this summer.
The best line in the movie?
"Next time the moon tells you something, believe it."
